Alumni Development System Conversion with Multiple SubProjects: Over the course of 6+ years, the University replaced one central Development and Alumni Relations system and three decentralized shadow systems with a new system from a third party vendor. SNtial was initially contracted to develop the data feed from the old central system to the new one. SNtial was subsequently invited to perform several sub-projects associated with this large-scale system conversion. About halfway through the project, the University named SNtial to its preferred vendor list for IT Consulting Services.
SNtial’s participation in this conversion spanned many diverse IT areas. SNtial designed and implemented the data feeds (Extract/Transform/Load processes) from 6 different University sources into the new Development & Alumni Relations system. A client-maintainable custom query tool was implemented for End Users that can access over 1,000 active search fields. Also, the Fundraising, Gift Processing, Donor Relations, and Alumni Relations business processes all required significant re-engineering as a result of implementing the new system. SNtial also implemented a customized “personal dashboard” for Development and Alumni Relations staff showing at a glance their Tickler (to-do) list, latest list of donations received from their donors, and latest changes in prospect assignments or new prospect assignments. Three downstream feeds and interfaces were also necessary to facilitate on-line status updates from alumni and various other University users of this data. In addition, SNtial Consultants architected and developed the reporting environment currently in use for status reporting, gift reporting, agency reporting, planning and analysis including: Scheduled reports, Home Page Reports, Executive Dashboard, and an ad hoc reporting environment. Finally, SNtial addressed a whole range of support and operational issues including: performance tuning (caching, SQL, and session management), standardized/automated nightly loads, standardized/automated code management/deployment, Helpdesk, online help, and technical/user training in multiple areas.
